Drawing of Pumpkin/Words: Pioneer Club Family Pumpkin Carving Contest

As a Fall family togetherness project, all families are invited to participate in the Pioneer Club Pumpkin Carving contest! Please read the Guidelines below.

1. All Pumpkins must be carved at home and then brought to The SSCC Harvest Carnival on October 30th by 6:00PM. This is a family project to be done at home and then brought to South Side Christian Church Gymnasium. No pumpkins will be carved at SSCC!

2. Pumpkin carvings should be family project centering around the theme, “This Little Light of mine, I’m gonna let it Shine.” Please do not carve any scary or mean looking faces in the pumpkins . All pumpkins will remain at the harvest carnival until after Halloween to help decorate our facility. Pumpkins can be picked up Saturday or Sunday morning
November 1st or 2nd.

3. Every family that participates will receive a ribbon for their effort. First, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded for creativity. Every Pioneer Club member that participates in the contest and completes the Pumpkin Carving Family Bible Study on the back of this sheet will receive an Extra Credit Star Patch from Pioneer Pete at the November 2nd Pioneer Club meeting.

This year when you carve your family pumpkin and you take out all that yucky stuff inside and replace it with a beautiful light, remember you can discuss with your family that's exactly what Jesus wants to do with all of our hearts. Read the scripture references below about light while you carve your pumpkin. This is a great object lesson about God's light in us.
Psalm 27:1,  Psalm 119:105,  John 8:12,  Ephesians 5:8-9,  1 Thessalonians 5:5,  1 Peter 2:9,  1 John 1:5

Pioneer Club Members: To receive an "extra Extra Credit Star Patch", read through all the above verses with your family while you carve your family pumpkin!

Good luck and have fun,
Pastor Steve
